The Department of Food Science at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, in collaboration with the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences and the Continuing Education Unit, organized a three-day training course entitled “Towards a Sustainable Healthy University.” The lectures were delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Fatima Hameed Kazzar, Assistant Lecturer Maisam Adel, and Lecturer Zikra Khalid Mohammed, in the presence of faculty members and individuals interested in health and environmental issues.
The course aimed to promote the concepts of health and sustainability within the university environment by raising health and environmental awareness, encouraging sound practices that improve the quality of campus life, and strengthening individual and collective responsibility for protecting the environment and public health, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the requirements for building a healthy, safe, and sustainable university.
The lecturers recommended expanding health and environmental awareness programs through seminars and training courses, encouraging regular physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle, supporting student initiatives that promote environmental protection and positive health behaviors, increasing awareness of healthy nutrition and proper dietary habits, and expanding green spaces across the university campus to enhance the overall university environment.
