The Department of Plant Protection, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop and discussion session as part of the scientific activities for the current academic year.
The event included a lecture entitled “Smart Agriculture and Digital Transformation in the Era of Artificial Intelligence Technology Challenges,” delivered by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ahmed Rajab Al-Najjar from Baqubah Technical College, Middle Technical University.
It also featured a workshop entitled “Agriculture Between the Rulings of Islamic Sharia and Algorithmic Governance: A Contemporary Jurisprudential Study,” delivered by Prof. Dr. Ali Abd Kanno Al-Jawari from the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Diyala. The event was moderated by Prof. Dr. Halima Sagheer Hussein and attended by a number of college faculty and staff members and graduate students.
The workshop addressed smart agriculture, digital transformation, and applications of artificial intelligence in the agricultural sector. It also discussed the religious and ethical dimensions of using algorithms and modern technologies in agriculture.
The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of smart technologies in developing the agricultural sector, improving production, managing resources efficiently, and keeping pace with modern technological advancements.
The workshop recommended promoting the use of artificial intelligence and digital transformation in agriculture, supporting collaborative scientific research, and developing the skills of researchers and students, while taking into consideration the religious and ethical aspects of using modern technologies.
This activity contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Sustainable Development Goal 15 (Life on Land).
