The Department of Horticulture and Landscape Gardening at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit at the college, organized a scientific workshop titled “Sustainable Agriculture: Tool for Empowerment, Planning, and Investment in the Era of Climate Change.” The workshop, held in the department’s hall, was presented by Professor Kazem Daily Hassan. He discussed the reasons behind the phenomena of global warming and climate change, and their negative impact on agriculture, as well as the extent to which sustainable agricultural practices, following the smart farming approach, contribute to mitigating the adverse effects of climate change. This is achieved through the adoption of various methods leading to the achievement of sustainable development goals, such as crop modeling, water harvesting applications, the development of symbiotic ecological systems, and the promotion of biological agricultural diversity. The lecturer also addressed the most successful experiments implemented in Iraq that applied the aforementioned principles. The workshop included various scientific discussions among the attending professors and gentlemen, enriching the scientific workshop.
