In order to achieve the sustainable development goals of good education, good health and well-being, and life in the desert, the Palm Research Unit at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences organized a workshop entitled “Date Palm: A Civilizational and Economic Heritage” this morning, Wednesday 12/February/2025, delivered by Dr. Ali Adel Abdul Karim. The workshop aimed to emphasize the importance of caring for palm by-products instead of damaging or burning them openly, which affects environmental pollution in all its forms. The workshop recommended the necessity of introducing palm by-products under the so-called circular economy, such as converting them into biofuel that is used in producing clean, low-emission energy and also benefiting from them in other industries such as wood and paper industries, date seed coffee, ethyl alcohol from fruits, and other industries, which leads to maintaining a sustainable, clean environment free of pollutants.
