As part of the activities of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, the Department of Field Crop Sciences in the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences at the University of Baghdad organized a discussion session titled “(Quinoa Project… the Promising Crop).” The discussion was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Sudad Kazem Al-Taweel, in the presence of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Amera Mohammed Saleh, and the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Ahmed Hameed Saudi, along with several faculty members and postgraduate students in the department.

The lecture aimed to introduce the quinoa crop and the most important varieties cultivated worldwide. It also aimed to highlight the health benefits of quinoa seeds, as they contain a high percentage of protein and essential amino acids for human health. Additionally, the lecture emphasized that quinoa is an important source of various minerals such as iron, zinc, and copper, as well as vitamin A. The audience also learned about some important considerations regarding quinoa seeds to avoid both allergic and non-allergic reactions for human health before consumption.
