Launch of the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences International Conference Under the Slogan “Smart Agriculture for Achieving Food Security


The College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences at the University of Baghdad, with Al-Nasser University, hosted the second International Scientific Conference onThe University of Baghdad’s College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences partnered with Al-Nasser University to host their 2nd International Agricultural Sciences Conference. Under the theme “Smart and Sustainable Agriculture for Food Security,” the event drew high-profile support. Notably, Higher Education Minister Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi and University President Prof. Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim Ensaf endorsed the initiative. Meanwhile, Dean Prof. Dr. Amira Mohammed Saleh spearheaded the organizational efforts. The opening ceremony at Al-Hakim Hall attracted senior officials including the Deputy Agriculture Minister and parliamentary representatives. Following Quranic recitations honoring Iraq’s martyrs, university leaders emphasized the conference’s importance. First, President Ensaf commended the organizers’ work, then Al-Nasser University’s president detailed the objectives. Significantly, Dean Saleh highlighted technology’s critical role in addressing farming challenges. International experts then delivered cutting-edge lectures on the inaugural day. After distributing participant awards, evening sessions shifted to the college campus. There, researchers demonstrated how AI-enhanced smart agriculture could revolutionize food production efficiency.Hydroponics solutions particularly stood out for addressing water shortages and soil health. Studies revealed modern techniques could substantially increase yields while using less land. Consequently, experts unanimously affirmed agri-tech’s pivotal role in global development. Ultimately, the conference showcased how innovation can tackle pressing food security challenges worldwide. These findings position agricultural technology as a key driver for sustainable progress.
