International Scientific Symposium on Sustainable Applications of Smart Agriculture and Smart Food Organized by the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences


The Department of Animal Production at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences organized an international scientific symposium on sustainable applications of smart agriculture and smart food. The opening was attended by the President of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim Insaf, and the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Amira Mohammed Saleh, with the keynote lecture delivered by the CEO of Sahara Muscat, Dr. Nawfal Hameed Rashid from Oman.
The symposium focused on explaining the concepts of sustainable smart agriculture and the role of research innovations in enhancing food systems. Participants discussed the importance of transitioning to automated agriculture as a key step in implementing smart technologies, showcasing successful models such as vertical farming and urban agriculture.
The symposium concluded with important recommendations promoting the use of modern technologies in smart farming and food management. The recommendations called for practical plans to implement software solutions and exchange expertise among specialists in agriculture and nutrition. They also emphasized the need to study challenges facing food security and develop innovative solutions such as biofuels and drone-based irrigation.
The sessions presented inspiring models of innovations that have contributed to agricultural development, enhancing production efficiency and resource sustainability. Participants expressed their hope to apply these ideas to serve Iraqi agriculture and improve food quality.
