The University of Baghdad’s College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences supports sustainable development in education and health. Its Biological Control Research Unit partnered with the Continuing Education Unit to host an anti-smoking workshop on May 6, 2025. Many participants attended this awareness event focusing on smoking’s health risks.
Dr. Shahba Ahmed Jasim explained how smoking harms different body systems. She presented scientific approaches to help people quit. Participants shared personal stories, making the discussion more engaging. The workshop stressed effective solutions to reduce smoking and improve public health.
The General Secretariat of Iraq’s Council of Ministers and the University Presidency endorsed this initiative. Dean Dr. Amira Mohammed Saleh sponsored the event. Dr. Shaimaa Hameed Majeed oversaw its successful organization, which met all awareness goals.
