The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, organized a seminar titled Digital Culture and Its Impact on Raising Our Children” in collaboration with the Department of Animal Production and the Continuing Education Unit. The lectures were delivered by Dr. Huda Muhammad Khalaf, Dr. Omar Sadiq, Dr. Israa Fadhil Al-Sahhaf, and Dr. Tamara Qasim Muhammad, with several college staff in attendance.
The seminar aimed to raise awareness among parents and educators about the importance of digital culture in the modern age. The speakers provided practical tools to help families raise a digitally conscious generation, highlighting both the benefits and drawbacks of technology. They discussed the impact of digital content on learning, entertainment, and social interaction while warning of associated security and psychological risks.
The sessions addressed ways to balance electronic device usage and protect children from harmful content. Experts emphasized setting clear rules for screen time while promoting digital security and privacy. They also discussed how children can cope with social comparison pressures on digital platforms.
The seminar concluded with recommendations on educating children about responsible social media use and the family’s role in supporting mental well-being. The Government Media and Communication Division wished the organizers continued success in their future endeavors.
