The Department of Soil and Water Resources (Second Year) organized a scientific field visit to the Soil and Water Research Laboratories at the Iraqi Commission for Scientific Research. The visit aimed to strengthen students’ practical skills and link academic study with the principles of sustainable development.
The students were accompanied by faculty members:
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bushra Mahmood Alwan,
Lecturer Dr. Nadine Aziz Salman, and
Asst. Lecturer Al-Hassan Jamal Abdulrazzaq.
During the visit, students were introduced to key laboratory instruments used in soil and water analysis, including the flame photometer, UV–Vis spectrophotometer, EC and pH meters, hydrometer soil-texture analyzer, turbidity meter, dissolved oxygen (DO) meter, and atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS).
This visit supports the university’s commitment to achieving several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, through integrating theoretical learning with real-world field training, as well as SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation and SDG 15: Life on Land. Such activities contribute to preparing students to effectively engage in the agricultural and research sectors.
