Defending a Master’s Thesis at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences about the Dodders Plant
In the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences at the University of Baghdad, a defence of the master’s thesis titled “Detection of Fungi Associated with Dodders Plants and Their Control Using Some Environmentally Friendly Substances” was successfully conducted by the student Ahmed Tarek Hashem from the Plant Protection Department.
The study aimed to isolate and diagnose the pathogenic agents associated with dodder plants and explore the possibility of using them in dodder control. Molecular diagnosis of the parasitic fungus on plant families was conducted, and the efficiency of using some chemical substances to enhance basil plant growth and combat dodder was evaluated.
The researcher recommended the potential manufacture of a bio-pesticide from the isolated factors for use against dodder, and further investigation into new bacterial isolates that could be used against dodder.
