As part of the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences at the University of Baghdad’s commitment, and the Department of Animal Production’s efforts to monitor applied research projects and promote scientific innovation, a scientific committee conducted a field visit to the PhD research project of student Osama Mohammed Abdullah, supervised by Prof. Dr. Ziad Tarek Al-Dhanaki, entitled:
“Utilization of the locally developed robot (Baghdad 1) in managing newly hatched turkey poults and its impact on their subsequent productive performance.”
The committee, chaired by the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Hussam Jassim Hussein Bananeh, reviewed the practical implementation of the experiment, which employed the locally designed robot inside the poultry house to manage poults during their early life stages. The system integrates advanced smart technologies for monitoring environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, and air quality.
The committee also listened to a detailed explanation of the robot’s operational mechanism and the technologies used, highlighting its role in improving management efficiency and reducing mortality rates, thereby contributing to enhanced productive performance and overall production efficiency.
At the conclusion of the visit, the committee commended the research efforts, emphasizing the importance of integrating modern technologies in supporting and developing the animal production sector, in alignment with smart agriculture trends and sustainable development goals.
