The Council of the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences holds its periodic meeting and discusses the establishment of a new department


The College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences held its twelfth periodic meeting for the academic year 2024-2025 on the morning of Wednesday, April 23, 2025, chaired by Professor Dr. Amira Mohammed Saleh and attended by all members. The council discussed several important issues, emphasizing the need to develop the college’s journal to enhance its scientific standing and advance it to the first quartile (Q1) in global rankings. They called for joint efforts to achieve this goal by improving the quality of published research and academic content.
The council recommended boosting faculty engagement on LinkedIn to share research activities and exchange expertise with global specialists. This initiative will expand academic networking and increase collaboration opportunities among researchers. Members stressed the importance of all teaching staff joining the platform to maximize its benefits.
Discussions also covered plans to establish a new department called Smart Agriculture Engineering” to keep pace with technological advancements in agriculture. Preliminary steps were taken to design advanced curricula tailored to this promising field. The new department will graduate professionals capable of applying modern technologies in the agricultural sector.
Attendees emphasized the need to enhance educational and psychological counseling to support students academically and mentally. The counseling unit should collaborate with faculty members to provide comprehensive guidance and help students overcome challenges. They also discussed the importance of monitoring individual cases to ensure a balance between academic and personal development.
The meeting included in-depth discussions on academic, research, and administrative affairs, with members making organizational decisions to improve the college’s performance. Topics also covered research plans and the development of graduate and undergraduate programs to meet market demands. The session concluded with actionable recommendations to ensure the timely implementation of decisions.
