In a distinguished scientific achievement that adds to the record of the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, a research paper by Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Ayada Addai, a faculty member in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering, has been published in the Journal of the Saudi Society of Agricultural Sciences, an internationally recognized journal ranked in the first quartile (Q1) in reputable global databases.
The research is entitled:
“Succinic Acid as a Central Regulator of Stress Responses, Fruit Development, and Sustainable Biotechnology.”
The study highlights the vital role of succinic acid as a key intermediate in the TCA cycle and its significance in regulating numerous physiological processes within plants.
The findings demonstrate that succinic acid plays an important role in enhancing photosynthetic efficiency, increasing carbohydrate synthesis, and improving plant tolerance to environmental stresses such as drought, salinity, and high temperatures. It also contributes to supporting fruit growth and development and improving fruit quality.
Furthermore, the study emphasizes the promising potential of this compound in sustainable biotechnology applications, opening new avenues for its use in modern agriculture.
The researcher recommends expanding the use of succinic acid in agricultural experiments due to its direct and positive impact on plant growth and productivity, as well as its role in promoting agricultural sustainability.
This achievement reflects the ongoing research efforts of the college’s faculty in advancing scientific research and elevating academic standards in a way that serves the agricultural sector and sustainable development.
