The Human Rights Unit, in cooperation with the University Psychological Counseling Unit and the Continuing Education Unit, held a three-day training course entitled “Intellectual Security and Combating Extremism.” The sessions were delivered by Dr. Muthanna Falih Hammoud and Assistant Lecturer Zahraa Mousa Jaber, with the attendance of a number of the college’s faculty members and staff.
The course addressed the concept of intellectual security, the challenges facing intellectual security, its key enhancers, the causes leading to extremism, and methods for combating extremism.
The course aimed to raise awareness about intellectual security and its foundations, highlight the dangers of extremism, and present effective mechanisms to counter it.
The course concluded with several recommendations, including integrating topics of intellectual security and combating extremism into the curricula of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, strengthening the role of the media in supporting intellectual security and countering extremism, and promoting a culture of dialogue.
