Professor Iman Hameed Al-Anbari, a faculty member in the Department of Food Science, College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, chaired the Master’s thesis defense committee at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Sulaimani, on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
The thesis was entitled:
“Impact of Freezing Temperatures (-24 vs. -80°C) and Tomato Physical Form on the Quality and Nutrient Retention of Freeze-Dried Tomato Powder.”
The research investigated the effects of different freezing temperatures and the physical form of tomatoes on the quality and nutritional retention of freeze-dried tomato powder. The study aimed to contribute to the advancement of food preservation and processing technologies while minimizing nutrient losses during processing.
During the defense, Professor Iman Hameed Al-Anbari provided valuable scientific observations and constructive academic discussions that enriched the thesis and strengthened its scientific and methodological aspects. Her efforts and active role in enhancing the academic quality of the research were highly commended.
This participation reflects the ongoing commitment to strengthening scientific collaboration and exchanging academic expertise among Iraqi universities, while promoting the quality of scientific research and postgraduate studies. It also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 2: Zero Hunger, through fostering research on advanced food processing and preservation technologies, reducing food losses, and improving food quality.
At the conclusion of the defense, the scientific efforts invested in the study were widely appreciated, and the importance of the research topic in the field of food processing and preservation technologies was emphasized.
