The Department of Animal Production, in collaboration with the University Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, organized a workshop titled “Cyber Extortion: A Threat to the University Community”, presented by Dr. Ahmed Sami Mohammed, with the participation of faculty members and students.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness of the risks of cyber extortion, explain its types and causes, promote digital security culture, and empower individuals to respond appropriately when targeted, thereby reducing its psychological and social impacts and reinforcing the principle of reporting rather than yielding to extortion.
Recommendations from the workshop included enhancing digital security awareness within educational institutions, organizing regular training programs, providing psychological and legal support to victims, encouraging reporting of cybercrimes, enforcing deterrent laws, and promoting cooperation between educational institutions and relevant security authorities.
This workshop contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goal for quality education.
