The Department of Agricultural Machinery and Equipment at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop titled “Pros and Cons of Electric Vehicles”, presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Naseer Salman Kazem. The event was held under the patronage of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Amira Mohammed Saleh, and under the direct supervision of the Department Head, Assistant Professor Dr. Qasim Mousa Madloul, with the participation of several college faculty members.
The workshop covered the history of the invention and production of electric vehicles, as well as their various types, comparing them with gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles. The presentation highlighted the advantages of electric vehicles, including reducing pollution and lowering the consumption of fossil fuels, which contributes to cleaner air. It also addressed the challenges, such as battery limitations, high manufacturing costs, and charging requirements.
Additionally, the workshop explored ongoing research and technologies aimed at developing more sustainable and cost-effective batteries. The presenter emphasized that electric vehicles have a promising future in the field of sustainable transportation powered by electricity rather than traditional fossil fuels. They help reduce environmental pollution, provide efficient energy sources, and support the transition to cleaner energy.
