The conference was held under the patronage and attendance of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Ameera Mohammed Saleh, along with Professor Dr. Raghad Abdulrazzaq Al-Hashimi, Dr. Ibrahim Bahr Al-Uloom, and a number of academic figures, patent holders, researchers, and inventors from the Ministries of Health, Education, and Higher Education, as well as invited guests.
The conference addressed several key themes, including agriculture, veterinary medicine, engineering, information technology, pure and applied medical sciences, and sports sciences. The event also featured a documentary film highlighting the college and the activities of the Iraqi Innovation and Creativity Center, in addition to a series of lectures discussing the digital revolution in the agricultural sector.
The conference aims to empower researchers and inventors to translate their research into real-world applications. This is achieved through the establishment of local associations, such as the Iraqi Inventors and Innovators Association, to unify efforts, provide access to innovation databases for idea development, keep pace with modern advancements in agriculture and industry, and create opportunities for licensing or selling inventions while ensuring legal protection for inventors.
At the conclusion of the conference, the Dean emphasized the importance of encouraging inventors and innovators to present patents and industrial models that contribute to achieving sustainable development goals, in order to advance the Iraqi economy. She also called on decision-makers in government institutions and the private sector to review the achievements of inventors and innovators and to invest in their scientific outputs, transforming them into national industrial realities.
This activity contributes to achieving several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
