The Department of Food Sciences at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific field visit to Sama Karbala Agricultural and Animal Production Company for postgraduate students as part of the requirements of the Advanced Food Processing course, supervised by Prof. Dr. Iman Hamid Al-Anbari and Prof. Dr. Bidaa Hafez, accompanied by Dr. Izzeddin Kazem.
The visit aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure).
During the visit, students were introduced to a detailed overview of the company’s processing procedures, modern production technologies, occupational safety practices, and quality control systems. They also visited advanced laboratories that contribute to ensuring the quality and safety of agricultural and animal products. In addition, students observed production field operations and learned about the company’s reliance on skilled local personnel with significant expertise in the field.
The visit aimed to strengthen the practical skills of students, bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, enhance competencies in food processing and quality control, and expose students to modern industrial agricultural technologies, thereby contributing to the preparation of qualified graduates capable of meeting labor market demands.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Department of Food Sciences presented a certificate of appreciation to the company’s management in recognition of their hospitality and fruitful scientific cooperation with the students.
