Rana Shakir Abdul-Sada from Department of Soil Sciences and Water Resources successfully defended his Ph.D. work with the title ” Soil Survey and Land Evaluation for Wheat Cultivation in the Western Desert of Karbala Governorate Using Drones”
The study aimed to survey and classified soils in the study area using aerial images captured by a drone-mounted camera, as well as to evaluate land suitability for wheat cultivation based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP).
The researcher recommended providing unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) in educational and research institutions and relevant authorities, in addition to conducting comparative studies to assess the added value of using drones in agricultural applications.
