As part of the requirements of the Advanced Biotechnology course for postgraduate (M.Sc.) students, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ruqayya Ali Jejan, a scientific field visit was organized to the laboratories of the Higher Institute of Forensic Sciences, Department of Life Sciences, Al-Nahrain University. The visit aimed to enhance students’ research and practical skills and to familiarize them with the latest technologies employed in molecular genetics and forensic sciences.
The visit included the Molecular Genetics and DNA Fingerprinting Laboratory, as well as the Gene Bank Laboratory. During the tour, students were introduced to advanced techniques used in genetic material analysis and the identification of genetic variations, in addition to learning about the procedures involved in the preservation and management of genetic resources. They also gained insight into several sophisticated instruments and their roles in supporting molecular research and forensic applications.
This visit comes within the framework of strengthening the integration between theoretical knowledge and practical application, while providing students with the opportunity to directly observe advanced technologies utilized in molecular research. Such experiences contribute to the development of their scientific and research capabilities and enable them to keep pace with recent advancements in the field of biotechnology.
